One of my favourite places to go to and eat in Doha with visitors is @aljazeeracafe which combines an exclusive Al Jazeera media experience in a café.
In the café’s interactive studio, diners who purchase a meal get an opportunity to be a news presenter using state of the art equipment for FREE!
Your moment in front of the cameras will be recorded, edited (with all the effects) and handed to you to take home.Your moment of fame is NOT broadcasted on Al Jazeera.
The finished product looks like you were on Al Jazeera TV (including background, music, graphics & inserts).
This awesome experience is available for FREE every day to customers of the cafè daily from 4pm to 10pm. I would advise to call before going to ensure the interactive studio is operational on the day as they often use it as a media base for events at Katara.
Do not forget to carry a USB or you can purchase one from the café.
I love the interactive tables available for small children. Go on to the internet, play games such as Air Hockey or watch a cartoon while you eat on the table. Kids will be entertained for hours.
Share your experience on social media using ‘#AlJazeeraCafe.’
Al Jazeera Media Café’s museum also exhibits Al Jazeera’s legacy and key moments from their journey over the past years.
The gift shop sells Al Jazeera products. One can purchase a souvenir to remember their experience and there is even an art studio at the back of the restaurant to wander through as you wait for your meal.
The interactive studio is complimentary for diners of Al Jazeera Media Café.
THE FOOD
There is a large range of food options available to make everyone happy. Kids meal options are extremely reasonable with sliders starting at only Qar25. I really enjoyed the perfectly crispy battered fish and chips and the kids enjoyed the sliders and chicken nuggets. Friends loved the fresh salad.
Don’t leave without trying out the Chocolate Coulant. A decadent melting chocolate fondant, with a twirl of dulche de leche & a rich creamy praline ice cream.
As the chef is South African, one can indulge in South African favourites such as Malva Pudding or Bobotie.
Located in Katara and open daily from 8am to 11pm (besides Friday).
