King’s College Doha Opening Ceremony – Mesaimeer Campus Launch

King’s College Doha hosted the opening ceremony of its state-of-the-art new campus in Doha. The ceremony began with a breakfast reception for guests overlooking the central atrium featuring pupil artwork and sustainability projects. The official ceremony took place in the schools 350 seat auditorium, featuring exceptional performances from King’s pupils, including a wonderful scene from a recent pupil production of Matilda, speeches and a ribbon cutting, followed by school tours.

The ceremony was hosted by Sheikh Mansoor Jassim Al Thani, Chairman of King’s College Board and Mr Mike Seaton, Principal of King’s College Doha and attended by the Headmaster of King’s College UK, Mr Justin Chippendale, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Qatar, H.E. Neerav Patel, dignitaries, founding parents and distinguished guests.

Mr Mike Seaton, Principal of King’s College Doha said, ‘Hosting our official opening alongside Sheikh Mansoor Jassim Al Thani is a privilege. To welcome so many guests and receive positive feedback about our new campus is a testament to our vision to be the best British independent school in the Middle East. We are very proud of King’s Doha and our close relationship with King’s UK and to have Mr Chippendale made today even more special. I’d also like to thank our committed and creative teachers and pupils for their fantastic performances.’

Having visited as recently as February, Mr Chippendale addressed the audience on behalf of King’s UK, expressing his support for and close collaboration with King’s Doha. Mr Chippendale said ‘Working with King’s Doha is incredibly rewarding. Since opening in 2016 the school has gone from strength to strength, welcoming pupils from all over the world to experience an authentic King’s education. The opening of this new magnificent campus is another milestone to be celebrated and will bring countless new opportunities for all our pupils in Qatar.’

Other guests attending the opening ceremony included representatives from the best universities and education institutions in Qatar and local business community members. The event concluded with tours of the new campus with extensive indoor and outdoor sports facilities, including a 25m swimming pool, cricket nets, tennis courts football pitches and dance studios, dedicated music and performing arts studios, and design and art labs, in addition to state of the art classrooms with an abundance of natural daylight.
