Megu Restaurant at The Pearl

Megu – Traditional Japanese Fine Dining in Qatar

Megu Qatar is a multi-award-winning and stylish restaurant offering traditional Japanese food. Diners are fortunate to experience some of the most enviable views of the luxury yachts docked in Porto Arabia.

Patrons can enjoy these scenic views in both the main restaurant and from the outdoor area (which is where I will be hanging out this winter).

The Food:

We were presented with starters consisting of battered Kanzuri Shrimp (Qar 55) in a rich kanzuri sauce infused with red chillies and piti-kara dressing. Both my husband and I loved it.

For mains we tried the Angus Beef Teriyaki (Qar 98) topped with an abundance of crispy onion rings. This has to be one of the most tender steaks I have enjoyed in Qatar.

Grilled Salmon is sometimes a hit and miss at some restaurants but Megu nailed it! Perfectly tender, fresh and delicious. The sauce that comes with the Grilled Salmon “Chan Chan style” (Qar 140) perfectly complimented it.

Sadly the vegetables that were served with the Grilled Salmon was the only disappointing element. Limp cabbage, onions and a few pepper slices.

I do still recommend ordering the Grilled Salmon as the Baked Salmon does not come with that delicious sauce.

My friend tried the Teriyaki Chicken and was not as happy.

Berry Blossom might be my favourite drink this summer. Fruity, zingy, sweet and fresh. The mint lemonade drink paled in comparison next to it.

For dessert I ordered the cheesecake as I assumed it was the famous Japanese Cheesecake that every Pinterest fan is obsessed about. The Green Tea Cheesecake (Qar 35) is instead a very rich fridge cheesecake.

Hubby on the other hand was thoroughly pleased with his Ice Cream trio.

Verdict:

Megu is a sophisticated night out, a beautiful setting and views that will enrapture diners, delicious fresh food and great service.

The service was phenomenal. We requested female only waitresses and they were lovely.
