When planning on moving to a new country or discovering a new country there are many ways to research and find information about the country.
Personaly I like to google or join facebook groups. It is a great way to get insight and assistance from people in a similar situation.
Here are a list of my favourites:
Online Expat groups:
I Am A Triangle
This is my favourite expat group.
It is filled with understanding people who are in a similar situation and can provide a platform for emotional support.
Being an expat can be a roller coaster ride of emotions and sadly most of your family and friends would not understand what you are experiencing.
I love this group as I find them to be respectful
and mature in replying to most peoples questions, concerns and meltdowns.
Previously a favebook group they have now moved to a new app called MIGHTY NETWORKS.

There are many groups that provide support and have clubs for expats in Doha:
Qatar Expat Women
Qatar expat womens forum
QATAR chat room for women
TLG Qatar – Public page
(For more information on these groups refer to my previous post)
Doha information groups:
ILQ – iloveqatar.net
I love the fresh approach of this page. Be sure to check out their #qtips vlogs which give one an insight into qatari dress and culture.
Marhaba Information Guide
Keep up to date with you Doha News and Lifestyle by following:
Qatar Day
Qatar Living
The Peninsula Newspaper
If you prefer getting your information from a guide book grab a Marhaba information guide from a supermarket such as Carrefour. Marhaba is filled with great information and tips on Doha.
Sadly I have found that after joining or commenting on other large public facebook Doha groups one sometimes receives unwanted friend requests and strange messages. (Not the groups listed above). My suggestion would be to filter before accepting anyone that adds you or messages you on facebook.
Which is your favourite facebook group about Doha?
Where do you post when looking for something in Doha?
Would love to hear about it in the comments below!
