Friday Brunch is famous in Qatar. A time to kick back, relax and indulge after a long week and the Ritz Carlton has nailed it with their fantasy experience once a month on a Friday with their superhero themed Brunch.
Deep down we all want to be superheroes, put on the powerful suit, have a billowing cape and feel like we are saving the world.
Kids (and adventurous adults) get to dress up and enjoy a relaxed fun filled brunch where delicious food, a live band, kid’s entertainment and your favourite superheroes make it a Friday to remember!
There are both indoor and outdoor seating available. If the weather is good I would highly recommend reserving the outdoor area as it has a much better atmosphere. Besides the superhero decor, kids can also enjoy a petting zoo (a few ducks, chickens, rabbits and a sheep), pony rides, face painting, cupcake decorating, shaped balloons, beaded jewellery craft station and a jumping castle. It is definitely a lovely outdoor garden for kids to play in and be free. There is also a small indoor play area for very small kids. Random raffles for kids to win toys and a chance to dress up (if they choose to) as their favorite superheroes or spend the afternoon being with their favourite character.
I do think their “petting zoo” is a little stretch of the term as the number of animals is limited. I did love that this family brunch was carefully thought about and the attention to detail such as the specially designed kids food tray.
It wasn’t a cheap brunch, but the experience created was worth the price tag by Doha standards. There was entertainment to keep small kids busy while adults enjoyed the large range of food and dessert options, a great live band and the beautiful garden to relax in.
The service from every person working there was one of the things that blew me away. I felt pampered and was treated like an old friend who was being hosted.
There are different food stations available. Besides the meat mains there was an avocado display, a cheese area, Arabic mezze, a sushi cart, a seafood and ceviche station and decadent desserts.
The tastiest dish for me was the comforting chicken and corn soup which was cleverly served in a hollowed roll (I wish I could have taken a bucket full of soup home with me). Tiger grilled prawns basted in a rich buttery lemon sauce and the baked salmon had me licking my fingers. I found the chicken to be a little overcooked and the pistachio beef was a little dry for my liking.
The highlight of the day hands down was the dessert area so make sure you leave some space, pace yourself and wear stretchy pants! The choices were endless. Hot gooey giant cookies that kept coming out of the oven every few minutes, a chocolate fountain with every dipper you could ever want, a fridge filled with desserts, cupcakes and an endless selection to please everyone!
It was tough to choose a favourite but the NY cheesecake and hot cookies blew me away with my latte. The hazelnut eclair on the other hand was a little disappointing as it was just too dry.
The Brunches get very busy so I recommend making your reservation early. The Superhero Brunch is only on the last Friday of the month and the Farmers Brunch is on the other Fridays. Same great food, same ambiance but no Superheroes.
