To make life easier for those staying, working or visiting The Pearl, there are now transport options available within the Pearl. Many of these options are FREE.

THE UDC LIMOUSINE:

The Limousine service is available FREE and will transport you in style within the Pearl from 10am to 10pm daily.
Reservations are not allowed but the Limousine needs to be booked 10-15 minutes before wanting to depart.

THE 777 BUS

The service presently runs From Hamad International Airport (HIA) to the Pearl-Qatar.
The Airport bus terminal is located at Arrivals. If you are exiting HIA Arrivals it is on your right handside and there is clear signage.

Use it to discover the city as the bus goes to/from the HIA airport through Souq Waqif, Corniche seafront, Museum of Islamic Arts, City Centre Mall and The Pearl Qatar.

Can I pay the driver directly?
Yes, you can buy Limited and Unlimited Cards directly from the driver.

How much is the cost?
The cost is the same from the Pearl/Airport to any destination or stop.
They have a fixed rate for the Route #777 which is Qar 5 for any trip.

There are 3 types of Karwa Smart Cards:

The Limited Qar 10 Qar & Unlimited Qar 20Qar which is purchasable from the driver,
Or the Classic Card for Qar 30 which is purchasable from the partner merchants (such as Jumbo Electronics at City Center or at the Central Bus station).

– The Frequency of the bus is 20 minutes.

BUS TIMES:
– Starting at 05:00 am to 12:00 midnight

The bus terminal at the airport is located at arrivals. There are signs clearly showing the bus section which is located on the far right if you are exiting the airport.

Near Tower 7 and near the big Spinneys.

WATER TAXI:

The Pearl-Qatar operates Doha’s first and only water taxi service. Both Visitors and Residents of The Pearl-Qatar can enjoy the fun water taxi experience or use the boat to commute around the Island.

Qanat Quartier marina has 1 stop operational (2more to come soon):

PRICE:

Qar 25 pp for non Pearl residents.
Kids under 3years are FREE.
Payment can be made to the boat captain at a pick up spot or in Ronautica office in Porto Arabiya tower 1

Pearl residents special rate: QAR 100 for TWO ADULTS per month for unlimited use. Kids under 3years are FREE.
Payment can be made in the Ronautica office in PA tower 1 ONLY. Office name: Ronautica Middle East next to Chocolate Bar

TIME:
The ride takes between 20-25minutes if no stops are made.

OPERATIONAL TIMES:
Daily
9am till 11pm.

Call and schedule a pick up 10 minutes before you would like to go for a ride. The staff are efficient and extremely helpful.

How do I get the taxi?
Wait at one of the above gates. This usually takes +-20minutes or alternatively call them to arrange a pick up on 66741577.
The gates are closed so one is advised to wait by the glass doors as the boat operator goes pass each gate and checks if anyone is there.

Boat size:
The boat can fit a maximum of 10 passengers

NewInDoha Tip:
If using the water taxi for a fun, relaxing experience I would highly recommend watching sunset by PA 30, then boarding from PA gate 29, 10minutes before sunset as the view of sunset and the changing of light from day to night gives one some spectacular Instagram worthy pictures. We then did the entire circuit and went back to Gate 29.

On a weekday at around sunset, the area is quiet at this time, one gently glides through the waters surrounding the Pearl and it is an extremely beautiful and relaxing way to end off a day.

Private transport options in Doha

1) App: Careem

Get Careem credit by using my Emirates skywards miles. To convert miles to credit was an easy and painless experience.

What I was not so thrilled about was that I was given an approximation of the total cost and was charged Qar3 for the driver waiting three minutes before starting the journey as I took some time loading the boot etc. The driver did not call when he arrived.
I was able to share my journey with a friend so that they could track my movements which I liked.

Careem is now integrated into Google Maps, which means you can now open their app straight from Google Maps.

How?

When you’re searching for directions on Google Maps, selecting the ride-hailing icon on the far right will show you an ETA and a fare estimate for Careem to take you to your selected destination.

Just tap Open App and Yalla, you’re ready to book a ride!

2) App: Uber
Uber has been easy to use, fast and very efficient.
Events in Doha sometimes have promos when using Uber so lookout for discounts and take advantage of them when using an Uber.
I was also able to share my journey with a friend so that they could track my movements which I liked.
I also liked knowing the final amount my journey would cost and if a driver is waiting for you or cannot find you he calls immediately and one is not charged extra.

My advice is to download both these apps. When comparing we have found Careems rates to be slightly higher sometimes.
I like having options and a back up plan especially if it is a long distance ride and the rate difference is significant.

3)App: Karwa green taxis

There is a Qar 5 charge to call a Karwa using the app

Hail a Karwa taxi (please note that there is a minimum charge of qr10 per ride and it works on a meter system). Karwa taxis can be found in the basement of malls such as City Centre (near the Dollar plus store).

Besides the taxi metre charge, I was charged an extra Qar5 as a booking fee.

Please note that if you call and order a Karwa, they ONLY accept CASH.

The Advantage of these modes of transport is that you are never looking for parking, no insurance or maintenance, no fines and it is stress free!
