Mall of Qatar Shatters Footfall Records During Eid Week, Cementing Its Status As “The Mall of the Nation”
Mall of Qatar recorded exceptional footfall during the recent Eid week, marking one of the strongest performance peaks in its history. The surge comes amid heightened regional tensions, underscoring the resilience of Qatar’s social fabric and the importance of public spaces where communities can safely come together.
Thousands of residents and visitors of diverse nationalities gathered at the mall to celebrate Eid, shop, dine, and enjoy the Lumina Dream Show, creating an atmosphere of unity, celebration, and joy.
“Moments like these remind us that malls today are far more than retail destinations,” said Michael Beverly, General Manager of Mall of Qatar. “They are social spaces where people connect, celebrate, and build community. Seeing families and friends gather in such numbers during Eid is a powerful message of optimism and resilience.”
Strong Consumer Confidence
A recent customer survey, reinforces this positive momentum: over 85% of respondents reported feeling “very comfortable and at ease” when visiting the mall. Safety emerged as the most influential factor in deciding to visit, followed by the mall’s family-friendly environment, promotions, and entertainment offerings.
Key insights include:
- Many visitors spend two to three hours per visit, reflecting deep engagement.
- Most customers maintain or increase their mall visits, indicating strong consumer confidence.
- The core audience consists primarily of young professionals and families aged 25–44, positioning the mall as a key lifestyle destination in Qatar.
While shopping remains the main reason for visits, dining and social activities with family and friends are major drivers, confirming that the mall experience now extends far beyond retail.
The survey also highlights strong interest in events and entertainment, emphasizing the role of experiential programming in encouraging repeat visits. During Eid, the mall hosted a wide range of festive activities that enhanced visitor engagement and dwell time.
The Mall of the Nation & the Stage of Nations Project
As Qatar grows as a multicultural society, Mall of Qatar is solidifying its positioning as “The Mall of the Nation”, a welcoming destination where residents and visitors from all backgrounds come together.
“At its best, a mall reflects the community it serves,” said Rony Mourani, CEO of Assets Management. “This Eid week demonstrated that Mall of Qatar is truly a place where the nation comes together.”
Looking ahead, Mall of Qatar is focusing on the MOQ Stage of Nations project, a cultural platform designed to celebrate Qatar’s international community.
“The Stage of Nations will give embassies and cultural institutions a prestigious platform at the heart of the mall to showcase their national identity, artistic talent, and cultural excellence,” Mourani added. “Through performances, exhibitions, and interactive experiences, we aim to foster cross-cultural dialogue and strengthen community connections. This initiative celebrates the heritage of every nation while reflecting the spirit of Mall of Qatar as the Mall of the Nation.”
