Al Hazm Mall Doha

The opulent Al Hazm luxury mall was built using more than 41,000 tons of marble & stone shipped to Qatar from Tuscany.

Scattered in the centre of the piazza and around the mall are more than two dozen beautiful olive trees imported from Italy and Spain which are between 250 & 600 years old.

Al Hazm mall is worth a visit. Enjoy marvelling at the beautiful marble, the ancient gnarled olive trees, luxurious hand-carved finishes (painstakingly done by Rajastani master craftsman) and attention to detail that makes this mall one of the most stunning malls I have ever seen.

Supposedly drawing inspiration from Italy’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan which I visited a few months ago, In my opinion this mall was far more ostentatious and palatial.

The Main Galleria building with the amazing glass-domed roof within its central atrium is not yet open and one is not able to enter the Galleria.

There is free parking presently in the basement.

There are prayer rooms and ablution areas for both men and women.

Put on your most expensive stilettos and rub shoulders with Qataris elite in this posh new mall.

Rosemary Café

A romantic café.

HORATII TIRAMISU LOUNGE

Tiramisu is one of my favourite desserts. The tastiest Tiramisu I have ever eaten was at @Itremercanti in Venezia. Imagine my happiness at seeing a café dedicated to Tiramisu in Doha. I am a purist when it comes to certain things in life and Tiramisu is one of those desserts that need simple quality ingredients and become something magical when made right.

Horatii Tiramisu Lounge was the brainchild of two Qatari women who wanted visitors to enjoy a beautiful luxury lounge experience in Doha’s newest exclusive mall instead of a hotel.

There are comfortable outdoor loungers in the middle of the opulent Al Hazm malls piazza, strategically placed between the ancient olive trees or one can sit inside the luxury indoor palatial lounge.

Serving both food and desserts Horatii is a cosy hands-on café with both the chef and owner checking on guests. Splurge on a Chefs fine dining experience ( Qar 850 ) or Main Courses such as Pizza or Pasta (starting at Qar 110).

We enjoyed the Horatii Classic Tiramisu (Qar 58). An inhouse freshly baked savoiardi dipped in espresso layered between some of the best quality ingredients and enveloped in valrhono 100% cocoa.

Not only was the Tiramisu a work of art to look at, it was as decadent & delicious as the Tiramisu in Venice! The portion was huge and can easily be shared.

The latte (Qar 26) was good but not WOW and was too small for my need for a caffeine fix.

There are a wide range of modern deconstructed contemporary desserts with a twist available at Horatii.

(have a look at their Instagram page for pictures and inspiration).

Horatii prides itself in using some of the best ingredients sourced from all over the world, with a chef who has worked in some of the best hotels in Qatar.

If you looking to splurge on a café-style dining experience in a cosy cafè, with excellent service then visit Horatii tiramisu lounge in Al Hazm Mall.

L’ETO

L’eto means Summer in Russian and when one gazes at the beautifully decorated cakes and desserts available ar L’eto one can picture enjoying one of these delights at a picnic on a beautiful summers day. They are such works of art that one bite could transport you to a happy place.
An opulent mall has to have equally opulent cafés. L’eto does not disappoint. The motto is “to make customers a bit happier every passing day – through making sure that last bit of cake never misses to every cake lover!”

We put on our stilettos and got ready for a ladies breakfast at L’eto. Portions were large and the flavours were delicious. Thank goodness we shared as not only did we get to taste more items but the portions can feed two.

We started off inside in the posh café as at 9am they only serve guests inside. First off was the eggs benedict with turkey (Qar 55). I am a fussy eggs benedict eater and this was spot on. The muffin it was served on was light fluffy and I wanted the recipe! My medium poached eggs were perfectly poached and lay upon a tasty slice of turkey and a bed of spinach.

We decided to be adventurous and try the Californian eggs (Qar75).
It is a novel idea. Two sunny side up eggs on a toasty tortilla wrap, chunky guacamole and spicy salsa with nacho chips. The highlight for me was the nacho chips. Essentially it was a Mexican breakfast party all on one plate. Nice but a little confusing for me so early in the morning.

The portions are large and can easily be shared by two ladies if you are not big eaters and one should always leave room for the best part.. the Desserts!

Juices are served in light bulbs of varying wattage (Qar38). Although tasty I was not wowed at the flavours. L’eto prides itself on using natural fresh ingredients and no added sugars.

The highlight was the moment we sighed with happiness when we shared a pistachio cake. It was a decadent gooey dessert that can make all your dreams come true. Best to be shared by at least four people as it is rich but ohh so good! The sweet aftertaste of fresh pistachios lingered in my mouth and my tummy sang a happy song.

I am still dreaming about those beautiful cakes and will definitely be making another visit to L’eto again for coffee.

Slow service and inattentive staff were the only sadly disappointing part of this experience. I attempted to make a reservation via Instagram and email. I received an auto response that they would get back to me within 24hours but sadly I am still waiting a week later…

The outside terrace dining area has spectacular views of Westbay, is beautifully decorated with plants and is the perfect spot to relax in winter. The area sadly does attract flies and is only open for service after 10.30am.

L’eto Ladies day is every Monday.
