ARGAN: A Moroccan Feast In Doha

Doha Food review: Argan

Dinner at Argan reminds one of a royal feast. A Moroccan experience of delicious hearty food, fragrant spices, vibrant flavours, lush decor and live Moroccan music transports one to the heart of Casablanca.

We enjoyed the set menu instead of choosing from the menu. The set menu changes constantly and can be adapted to suit the diner. At Qar 180 per person one is served an Amuse Bouche of Harissa and olives. The starters were a selection of salads and Briout Cheese (deep fried pastry with a cheese filling).
For the main course a vegetarian couscous was served with a Lamb Tagine. Thereafter we enjoyed  Moroccan biscuits and mint tea in the majlis area. All non alcoholic soft drinks are included in the price.

The starters

The traditional vegetarian couscous

The magnificent Lamb Tagine (TAGINE LAHAM)

Slow cooked Lamb Shank with plump juicy prunes, a hint of cinnamon and generously sprinkled with fresh nuts

The WOW dishes for me?

Hands down the Lamb Tagine had me licking my fingers.
The lamb fell off the bone and you knew someone spent the whole day lovingly creating and cooking this culinary delight that makes your heart sing and reminds you of a comforting meal that makes the world feel a little better.

Portions are hearty, large and filling.

My suggestion?

I would have preferred to have ended the set menu meal with a rich decadent Moroccan dessert instead of a selection of biscuits and tea only. There are Moroccan desserts available but they were not part of the set menu.

The Dessert menu

Location:
Argan is located near the Souq Waqif AL RAYYAN TV ROAD mosque inside the Al Jasra Boutique Hotel.

My suggestion would be to get dropped off in front of the Souq Waqif Falcon hospital located in the Falcon Souq. Our Uber dropped us on the other end of Souq Waqif and we found it very complicated to find our way.

The nearest Car Park is the Souq Waqif western car park.

Free valet parking is available for bills over QAR100.

Dining areas:

There are three areas to choose from at Argan. A formal dining area, a casual outside area which is best suited for winter dining as it is not air-conditioned and a relaxed majlis area which is perfect to unwind, chat and sip on a refreshing Moroccan mint tea.

To sum it up:
Argan transports guests to Morocco. If you are looking for an experience combined with hearty scrumptious food Argan is the place to go. From the traditional Moroccan decor with a modern twist to the delicious comforting food. An ideal venue to celebrate a special occasion or impress out of town guests. The service and attention to detail was exceptional and I was blown away.

    Hello.
I don’t know if you have tried it already, but Tajine is also a very famous Moroccan restaurant in Souq Waqif that serves amazing “Herera”. But this place looks more comfortable and lavish than Tajine.
