Hilton Salwa Beach Resort Dolphin Cruise Review

Hilton Salwa Beach Resort has launched a host of water activities and excursions for both hotel guests and day visitors. One of the most exciting was the dolphin cruise. We set out with friends on Saturday at 3pm in the hope of spotting these friendly mammals.

Sadly we were not lucky. The boat before us and the sunset boat after us did spot a family of 5 dolphins. The videos of their experience were kindly sent by staff (swipe left).

Would I try again? Yes! We really enjoyed being out at sea, wind in our hair and we had a relaxing beach and pool day at the resort.

DOLPHIN CRUISE DETAILS:

• The boat ride is 1.5 hours.

• I do recommend going at a time when the waters are calm. We went out at 3pm and the wind had picked up and the waves were choppy.

• The boat can be hired for QAR 750 and it accommodates up to 8 people.

• The experience is NOT charged per person.

• Pre-booking is required and no deposit is needed.

• The kiosk for water adventures is located ON THE BEACH infront of the SOUTH POOL/ ARABIAN VILLAGE.

• We paid QAR 400 by CREDIT CARD-cash is not accepted.

• If NO dolphins are spotted, only QAR 400 will be charged. If you spot dolphins, you will need to go back to the beach kiosk and pay another QAR 350.

• Dolphin sightings are frequent but not guaranteed.

• Towels and cold water is provided on the boat.

• Carry a tight hat/cap as it gets windy on the boat, sunglasses, cool clothing, sunscreen and sandals.

• If you are prone to sea sickness, it is best to take meds before. It is an open boat but if it is windy like today, you could encounter choppy waters.

• Carry a costume and enjoy a dip in the pool (loved it!!!! The water was refreshing and cool) or enjoy the beach after the boat trip. Swimming with the dolphins is not allowed.

• Life jackets are provided.

• Picnic baskets can be prebooked via the hotel and enjoyed on the boat.

• A special shout out to all the staff we met today at the beach and pool. Despite the scorching heat, we met the friendliest staff who were jovial and welcoming.
