How to plan a romantic weekend in Paris this summer

Watching the sky change colour over the iconic buildings and canals of Paris as the boat gently sways down the river was the highlight of my trip. The romantic 1hr sunset boat cruise on the Seine departs near the Eiffel tower. The Seine is a 777-kilometre (483 mi) long river and an important commercial waterway within the Paris Basin in the north of France.

Tickets can be purchased from outside the Eiffel tower for €15 pp. The Boats leave every 30minutes. One can pre buy tickets at France info centres and other operators for €10 and the tickets are valid for 3days.

Be sure to not miss the light display on the Eiffel tower on the hour every hour in the evenings.

My suggestion would be to plan your boat cruise around sunset. Getting there 60 minutes before sunset would be the perfect time for spectacular sunset views over the Seine and the best holiday pictures.

Indulge in Tea at Ladurèe on Champs Elysèes. The ambiance and lavishness of the restaurant and coffee shop with its rich decor transports the visitor to the 1800s. (Pic: The Ispahan My favourite! This rich macaron dessert is studded with raspberries and litchis and lashings of a decadent rose scented cream).

My tour recommendation:

A trip to Paris should start off with a Sandemans free walking tour (Book online at no fee)

Its a great way to see the highlights of a city and get your bearings. Guides work for tips and always make that extra effort! Ask for advice and listen out to tips for a great experience during your stay.

The Meetup point is at Saint Michel Fountain which is directly infront of the metro stop.
Stops include:
Notre Dame de Paris (in pic below)
Tuileries Gardens
Assemblée Nationale
The Louvre
Palais Royal

Halaal food:

We Discovered Halal French cuisine taken to another level @lesenfantsterriblesparis

Filet de boeuf, beurre maître d’hôtel au noix (pictured) was one of the tastiest steaks I have ever eaten!

They are also famous for their meat falling off the bone lamb shanks.

Dont count calories in Paris as there are patisseries in every corner and @lesenfantsterriblesparis doesnt disapoint. Dont leave without savouring Le macaron framboise et sa mousseline de litchi or the
Fraisier coco et amandes aux biscuits de Reims which melts in your mouth and dances on your tongue. Toe curling stuff!! For your lets splurge and enjoy a lovely halal french dinner experience in Paris be sure to try @lesenfantsterriblesparis
Open for dinner only from 19.30
Reservations are required as they are very busy.

My Friends restaurant recomendations in Paris:

LE WOK SAINT GERMAIN

Accomodation:

Hilton La Defense is located at the end of the Metro 1 line in the Defense area above a small mall. Located directly opposite the metro and train station makes it convenient with a large shopping mall with large department stores and chain restaurants located just 300 metres away. The rooms are nice and comfortable but sadly the bathroom needs a little upgrading as it has started to show some age around the edges.

Signage is a huge problem and brace yourself to be very confused the first time one tries to find the hotel especially at night. The mall entrance (Next to Nespresso) is the easiest and most convenient way to enter the hotel but locks its doors from 9pm to 7am so one is forced to walk around to the back of the CNIT mall to find the Hilton main entrance instead of through the CNIT mall.

Staff are helpful and friendly and the convenience of the huge mall opposite the hotel (all stores and a food court) make it a very convenient hotel.

La Defense station has a Marks and Spencer food hall, Mcdonalds and Hema which is very handy.

When I visited Paris, I found the changing color of the sky at sunset the most amazing of all views. All you need to do is just move around to change the backdrop 🙂

I can’t believe that its been two years since I visited Paris. It feels like just yesterday. I was there in summer so I know exactly what you are talking about. The scenery, the landscape, the food… It isn’t a wonder that Paris is known for romance now isn’t it?
