MARRIOTT MARQUIS CITY CENTER DOHA WELCOMES CHEF PIERO NOGARO TO LEAD CUCINA

Marriott Marquis City Center Doha’s signature Italian kitchen welcomes the Italian chef, whose culinary roots run deep and whose international journey brings a new perspective to Cucina.

Marriott Marquis City Center Doha is pleased to announce the appointment of Chef Piero Nogaro to lead Cucina, the hotel’s signature Italian kitchen. An Italian chef with more than three decades of culinary experience, Chef Piero brings to Cucina a lifelong connection to Italian cuisine, shaped by his upbringing in Italy, his family’s culinary heritage and an international career spanning Europe, the Middle East, Asia and beyond.

For Chef Piero, cooking began long before it became a profession. The son of a Michelin-starred chef, he grew up surrounded by the discipline, traditions and passion of professional Italian cuisine. Born in Milan, his own culinary journey began in Italy, where he developed his foundation in Michelin-starred kitchens, including the three-Michelin-starred restaurant of renowned Italian chef Gualtiero Marchesi.

Over more than three decades, Chef Piero has carried that Italian foundation with him around the world. His career has included senior culinary roles across Italy, Qatar, the UAE, Morocco, the Maldives, Jordan and Norway, alongside international consulting work across London, Zurich, Hong Kong, New York and the Caribbean. Throughout his career, Italian traditional and modern cuisine has remained at the heart of his culinary identity.

His journey also brings him back to Doha, a city he has previously called home during his culinary career. Returning to Qatar marks a meaningful new chapter for Chef Piero, this time bringing his Italian roots and international experience to Cucina at Marriott Marquis City Center Doha.

At Cucina, Chef Piero will lead the culinary direction of the restaurant, bringing together the traditions of Italian cooking with his own international perspective. His approach is grounded in respect for ingredients, authenticity, technique and the belief that Italian food is ultimately about creating a sense of connection.

I am Italian, and Italian cuisine has been part of my life from the very beginning. I grew up surrounded by the traditions of Italian cooking, and as my career took me around the world, I always carried those roots with me. Coming to Cucina feels very personal to me. It is an opportunity to return to the cuisine that shaped me and share a genuine part of my heritage with our guests in Doha. I want people to feel the warmth, generosity and spirit of Italy through the food, the flavours and the experience.” said Chef Piero Nogaro.

“We are delighted to welcome Chef Piero to Cucina and to see him bring his experience, passion and Italian heritage to one of our signature dining destinations,” said Paul M. Cannings, Multi-Property General Manager of Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel and Marriott Executive Apartments City Center Doha Hotel. “What makes Piero particularly exciting for Cucina is the genuine connection he has with Italian cuisine. His roots, combined with his extensive international experience and his previous experience in Doha, give him a wonderful foundation to lead the restaurant into its next chapter. We look forward to seeing him share his passion for Italy with our guests and create memorable dining experiences at Cucina.”

Chef Piero’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Cucina as it continues to strengthen its identity as a destination for Italian cuisine in Doha. With an Italian chef at its helm whose relationship with the cuisine began at home and has evolved through decades of international experience, Cucina will celebrate the flavours, traditions and spirit of Italy while offering guests a contemporary expression of Italian hospitality.
