Visiting W Doha Art 29 Exhibition and W Café

The latest art exhibition at W Doha is a journey of the most memorable and pivotal events that took place in the past year in Qatar from the viewpoint of two local Qatari artists.

A provocative exhibition which highlights the events that reshaped the country and society and redefined the cultural identity of Qatar in the post-blockade era.

As a non-Arab speaker I did find some of the art difficult to interpret on my own and the exhibition was much smaller than I expected.

My Arab friend accompanied me and unravelled to me aspects of the art pieces that I would never have understood.

Different techniques and mediums were used to cleverly show art work of symbols of pain, difficulty, strength, love and solidarity.

There were a few interactive stations but sadly there was no marking pen and the tablets were not charged so we were not able to use them and the coffee bar was stocked but there was no one there to assist. I do recommend telling them at reception that you are going to visit and could you be served upstairs before visiting. I love the industrial coffee bar in the art gallery that has some of the best views of West Bay buildings (For FREE).

We opted to therefore grab a drink at W cafè. The banana bread was moist, filled with flavour and delicious while the frozen yoghurt was cool and refreshing. I also love the range of detox juices available.

This area can be accessed from the W Doha hotel lobby. There is a mirror door that needs to be pushed by the elevator to go to the Residence side.
